I count on my earth
for so many things
A fresh breeze in the morning
as all the birds sing
Sand littered only with footsteps
on a hot summer day
Trees giving me shade
when I go out to play
Bright colors of flowers,
like candy for my eyes
And what a wonderful treat
a rainbow painting the sky.
Clean water and rich soil
help my food grow
Feeding me, not to mention
millions of folks I don’t know.
And what fun would it be
not to swim in a lake?
Or to have to stay indoors
so my lungs wouldn’t break?
Without a healthy earth to live on,
where would we all be?
I count on my earth,
and it counts on me!
